     * DO NOT send unsubscribe requests to the posting address!!
       Send all administrative requests to
            armchair-request@maillist.il.ft.hse.nl
     * Change the subject of your reply to something pertaining to your
message (not "Magical Armchair Digest, Volume X, Issue #nnn").
     * Keep your posts short. Remember, you are writing to over a thousand
people. Long posts tend to ramble. Reread your message before
       sending it!
     * DON'T quote excessively, OR QUOTE THE ENTIRE DIGEST, when
replying. Edit your quote to only the line or lines you are
replying to. Remember, unlike Usenet, everyone's already seen the
       original message.
     * Please keep non-Ben Folds Five content to a minimum. Members who
chronically post off-topic messages may be unsubscribed. This
includes chain letters, virus warnings, etc. Also, refrain from
posting a message that basically says "me too" or answers a
question that has already been answered unless you have more
details. Messages of a moderating nature are off-topic; the moderator
will handle this behind the scenes.
     * Before posting questions of a general nature (e.g., "Anyone have
tour dates?" or "What are the words to Underground?"), check the
       Web resources available.

On 120 min, this is my fav part where Robert adds a remark
during the "Japanese version of Song4theDumped"
conversation. I thought the boys seemed cool and confident about
themselves, as everything they said had some humor in it. They seemed
REALLY cool after Silverchair.

As for this wacky MTV, I noticed something along the lines of what miss
Anee Hall was talking about...

> "weed" reference deletion:
> yeah, mtv is funny...Tom Petty can't say "so let's get to the point, lemme
> roll anotha joint" and Dr. Dre can't even show a leafy "chronic" bud on his
> hat...but if you're Green Jello or Jelly or whatver...you have pigs smokin
> joints in yer video! fascinating.

Well, how about the Ben Folds Five contradiction. They had to remove the
word weed from "Battle" but the word pot in "Uncle Walter" is perfectly
all right! It's like the time I was listening to 103.5 the Blaze (way
back when...) late at night and they played "Man in the Box" by Alice in
Chains and the word shit was in the song twice...well, that's kinda
different but the media is still fucked up!

You can listen to a quote from the interview at www.mtv.com under the
news headlines section. Also, while you're surfing their page, stop by
the 120 min site and see what kinda farce is going on there. They
listed our boys as "The Bend Folds Five". If this was their name, we
would probably be called the Bend Overs and I personally don't like
that so... send 'em an email and tell 'em that they suck. Here's what I
wrote if you wanna copy it and send it over to 'em:

I don't appreciate the constant mistakes that you guys make. At least
have the respect to type in a bands name correctly as "Ben Folds Five"
not "The Bend (over) Folds Five". Thanks - oh yeah, nice picture
w/silverchair sticking up his middle finger, very tasteful! Also, try
listing the right videos that you played for the week listed above, and
not the videos from a week ago. I mean, if you're gonna have a web site,
fucking update it correctly and give the bands that you're making so much
money off of the respect that they deserve and type in their names
correctly. You so lazy!!
Thank you for reading.

send it to minutes120@aol.com and tell 'em not to reckon with the supreme
forces of the Benathiac Folding Fivers!

Sorry about the length and thanks for reading (if you did!)

Subject: HORDE in Chicago

I just checked the Big Head Todd wed site (thanks for the tip Frank) and
I found out that they will be in Chicago on July 4. I guess that this
means that Ben Folds Five (along w/the rest of the HORDE bands) will also
be in Chicago on the Fourth of July. Well, I can't think of a better way
to spend Independence Day! BBQ, Beer, Fireworks and BFF make Samee happy :)

Hello fellow Foldians,

Please, Please, i really need the help of any New York City fans, or
any fans with info, for that matter. okay, i live in CA, but through
the miracle of modern day family reunions, i might be able to be in
NY on the day BFF will play in Central Park!! Could you please send
me any other info that you know about the concert, when tickets go
on sale, what time, price, any other bands, is it safe (my parents
have only me, and are way overprotective..) etc, etc. Thank you!!

>>Oh yeah, and I agree. We need something to denote a difference from BFF
fans, "fivers?", and us "Armchairites."

Why? So we can all feel that we're 'proper' fans, whilst the rest don't
really like them? What is the point of this self-satisfied crap?It
doesn't mean that we like the band more, just because we're lucky enough
to be on this mailing list.

We had this sad argument about BFF going 'mainstream', and I'll say what
I said last time - it stinks of 'Hey - I liked them first' cool. Call
yourselves what you like - as far as I'm concerned anyone who likes Ben
Folds Five, in whatever capacity, is alright with me.

By the way, a 'fiver' (in the UK) means a five pounds note.

Hey All..

I never mentioned. I have changed my email address, so any of you who at one
time knew me as "woodnymph@hotmail.com" it's just little old me. And I also
lost my whole e-mail address book, so if ya haven't heard from me...drop me a
line.

But I wanted to talk about HORDE. Tres excited to see the AZ date, but
JULY!!!! I went to HORDE last year in september and almost died of heat
stroke. Phoenix in July....it will be like seeing bf5 in hell. But oh well,
happy anyway.

Also, i would love a copy of the promo tape. if anyone would be keen enough
to make me a copy, i might have something to trade...I taped the show at Pima
fairgrounds in tucson, but just on a hand held. its cool anyway, though.

and just because a band is from one part o' the world, or another, does not
quality make. (silverchair) It is all a matter of opinion.

And I am working on 2 different homepages...if you are really bored.....

there was BFF being bleeped out. (They were talking about what they could
say and what they couldn't on MTV. It was great.) They picked some good

I can't figure out how anybody can get abortion out of brick, I mean I know that
they say the whole doctor bit, but then why does it say near the end that she is
not fine, and then the doctor tells them that it is time to tell the truth. I
think it is more about someone trying to cope with a terminal disease and also
figuring out that their relationship is not working...a penny for your thoughts.

Darren was more talkative than on 120 Mins. (how could he not be), Ben was
definitely "on". They played BoWCCL and:
Liz Phair, PJ Harvey, Chemical Brothers ("we're playing them cuz Rolling
Stone said they were the next big thing.." Ben deadpanned), Madness (One
Step Beyond....haven't seen that vid since Reagan was Pres -- great
choice!!); George Jones, Komeda (probably forced to play them); and Pat
Benatar's Love is a Battlefield (Ben said they tried to re-create Pat's
"dance-off" in their "Underground" video, and suggested all BFF's
disagreements are settled by "dance-offs"). Towards the end, Robert said he
believed Noel Gallagher had back hair. Hostess Jancee responded that Noel's
doing pretty well, "maybe things are turning around for people w/back hair".
"If you have back hair" Ben quipped, "you should never turn around".
Ben also expressed frustration that you can say "ass" on TV, but not "weed"
(as in BoWCCL). He then said he'd probably get away with it if he changed
the line to "score some ass" -- he was bleeped.
