nieve)...... I need to go to that show-itll help me get through the rest
of the school year(Im a junior and everything I do now affects the Rest
Of My Life, like Im not stressed)
So....should us young Bostonians on the armchair get together and demand
to be let in to the show???Anybody behind me???
Or do I beseech the Gods O The Armchair to help me out???
Help!!!!!!Give a young girl with SATS encroaching(good word!) upon her
help!
Email me if you can help or are in the same boat!
Lastly, I have to echo the wonderful words of Scott and thank the

Janelle, I hear ya buddy. When I got wind of a BF5 tour earlier in the
year I promised myself that I would attend both Melbourne shows. Anyhoo
I went to the monash show last week, but I was stupid enough to think
that the guy who looked after the tickets for that show would cover me
for the POW gig. Well, he didn't. When I rang the other day I too was
told the show was sold out, but THERE ARE STILL ABOUT 30-40 TICKETS ON
SALE at the door at 9.00pm. I'm trying to get some myself. So I hope to
see you there.

Subject: Moshing

This is non-list-related, but I never get to sound off about this subject.

What I've always wondered about moshing is why it happens where it does...
I mean, you'd think that these people, who obviously aren't interested in
*watching* but only in listening, would go somewhere besides right in
front of the stage. Lots of people who *do* enjoy watching miss out
because they are forced away from the stage by moshers... and the sound
systems in most places are good enough that there's no reason why people
couldn't go to the back to do their moshing.

Boy, today was pretty rough on me. I have been looking forward to seeing
Ben Folds Five in Bloomington, where I live. Today, I found out that the
show was moved to Indianapolis. No problem right? I'll just have to go a
little out of my way. I looked up the show on Ticketmaster's page, and
found out that it was 21+. Forget that. Now, my only choices are Chicago,
Knoxville, or Nashville... all way over 200 miles away. Forget that, I'll
just have to miss out on seeing my favorite band in the world.

I just joined this mailing list and I have a few questions.

1. Does anyone have any tapes to trade? I have two shows (1/30/96 &3/24/96)
and I'm looking for more. I saw something about a show from Irving plaza in
NYC on 4/28/97 and I would love to get that show. Any info will be greatly
appreciated.

2. Does anyone know how I could get tickets for the 10/17/97 show in
Charlotte, NC at the Tremont Music Hall? Is anyone going?

3. Is anyone going to the 96Wave Fest in Charleston, SC that same weekend?
If so, drop me a line.

Well, so much for my first post. Thanks in advance for the help.

Okay, I got the info on the BFF show at Eastern Michigan
University. The price is $12 for non-students, $8 for students. Tickets go
on sale Monday. If anybody out there has friends that go to EMU and are
willing to buy for me (God, I feel like I'm trying to get a fifth of Crown
Royal) I'd be more than grateful. I know me and a friend are going, and
I'll probably be wearing a little "Hello, My name is" tag that says
Officer Friendly's Little Boy. Even though I don't have a mowhawk, I will
have baby dreds by that time, so it'll be all good. Anyone still
interested, drop me an e-mail and I'll get back to you. Laters!

ERIC

P.S. Yes, the quote is an Eric Patton Original. Feel free to use it,
seeing as how more people need to get that attitude anyway. Ciao!

moshpits are cool in the right place and time. ministry, revco, archers,
fugazi, etc etc......these are wonderful times to mosh. i had a perfectly
good catherine wheel show ruined for me, though, by the presence of a pit and
a bunch of little crowdsurfers......
i for one would just like to go to my shows to see my bands without having to
worry about bouncing off of other people, fights, elbows and having to catch
people to prevent them bodily injury.
you do your own thing, but be considerate to those around you (and their
girlfriends, smile.)

I just wanted to mention 2 things:
1.	I just thought I'd remind you of Frank's wonderful web page which
has all the song lyrics under discography. These are listed as being
published courtesy of Sony Music so they should be reasonably accurate.
However Ben does not always sing the intended lyrics (e.g. in Brick he
sings "back" instead of "home") so it's often a mystery.

2.	I love the start of Kate. The off-beat feel of the bass does not
settle in for quite a few bars and then it all just suddenly clicks into
time. And the amazing thing is they do the same thing live!! Maybe it's
just me but every time I hear it I try to get the off-beat feel but all I
get is on-beat until it suddenly clicks. It's so different and gives a
groovy feel to the song.

Only 5 hours till the BFF gig tonight at the POW and AM I EXCITED OR WHAT!!!

Cheers,
Rebecca

It's been mentioned that "Satan" may be a cover, possibly originally by
Slayer. The origin of this misunderstanding is that Ben occasionally
makes Slayer jokes because his tour manager used to work for Slayer. In
fact, "Satan" is a Ben Folds Original.

A non-Armchairite (there! I settled it) sent this info on the Birmingham
show on Oct.25:

They are playing in the 106X Big Fall Concert. BF5 is scheduled to play
on the main stage from 6:30 to 7:30, followed by Seven Mary Three at 8,
and Sister Hazel at 9:30. It is an all day show at the Oak Mountain
Amphitheater, which is apparently about 20 minutes south of Birmingham.
Tix are $10 for general admission on the lawn and $15 for reserved seats.
It is not through Ticketmaster but some company called TicketLink. They
can be reached at 1-800-277-1700.

Subject: lorenza ponce and misc.

Hi all,

Haven't posted in awhile, and now I have a new address!

Anyhoo, at work I got a publicity kit from Angel/EMI records about a
violinist in Kitaro's touring band. Her name is Lorenza Ponce, and the
PR material reads like this:

"What do the following artists have in common? Sheryl Crow, Celine Dion,
Jewel, Deborah Harry, Ben Folds Five, Silverchair, Kitaro? They all
benefitted from the talents of Lorenza Ponce!" And then, with BFF's
name in bold, it reads, "Lorenza Ponce, currently winning acclaim for
her debut album Imago, will be performing Oct. 3 at Webster Hall in New
York City. This emerging vocalist/violinist recently completed a 6-week
run on the highly successful H.O.R.D.E. tour, performing alongside
pop-rock group Ben Folds Five."

I didn't see the tour; does anyone remember this artist? Was she
notable?

On another front, I just got tickets to the BFF gig at the Supper Club
Nov. 6. I haven't gotten tickets through Ticketmaster in a long time.
It's outrageous! The Supper Club tix are $15 each, and Ticketmaster
charges an extra $5 per ticket plus a $3 order fee. Is this normal, or
just Ticketmaster in New York? Needless to say, I'm not doing this
again!

Take care y'all,
Cynthia
