Okay- big news! (well, not to anybody but me and that monk in my CD
changer named SHUFFLE-anybody remember him?) The news is that I have
finagled my recruitment travel to allow me to see BFF in Indianapolis,
which will not only be great in principle, but also allow me to see a good
friend and see BFF in another state (bringing the total to five states).
That being said, who's going and will there be any armchair
meetings before I get to deliver the boys their semi-annual dosage of
cookies? Email me if anyone is interested in meeting up. Wasn't there a
Nashvillian who was proposing this earlier?

personally, i don't even see how the two can be compared. pj used to be
my favorite band, and bff took their spot, but i won't go so far as to
say they are the same!! so, if they aren't the same, why compare them?
nobody ever compares natalie merchant with bikini kill, so why pj and
bff? i dunno, just wanted to try and point out the madness.
however, i wanted to remark that i, as well as a few others, seem to
think that the 1st bff cd sounds an awful lot like the soundtrack to a
musical. noo, not just because of the piano!! because it has a very
personal feel, very revealing. also, i could imagine singing any one of
those songs on stage ina musical.oh sure, a few might sound a little
silly, but sometimes that's just the way musicals are.

      lots of love,

Hello people....long time lurker with a first-time post...

Being pretty much a pacifist, I hate to see confrontations of any
sort be they of the physical or the verbal, or even written. But I
have to say that the last few flamings of one "Mr. Dope" have been
some of the most entertaining reading I've seen in this space since
signing on some months ago. Go, Aussies, go!!!

Reading about what's going on in other countries, even what bands are
playing and what types of TV is being consumed, is a big part of
bringing the world closer. I mean the fact that we can get on a
plane and visit in a matter of hours, or e-mail back and forth in a
matter of seconds continues to make the world smaller and smaller.
This "shrinking", for the most part seems to be causing much strife
and unhappiness. But it doesn't have to. Does it? Keep those minds
open out there.

i wanted to address a whole bunch of things i just read. first, way to
go, petra!! rock on! we shouldn't be getting so angry at one another,
after all...we have this really unique connection (bff) that should pull
us all tight...maybe like siblings?
also, i think she puts vaseline on her toast because it has fewer
calories/fat grams than anything else that was mentioned.
ok, so i guess i didn't have a WHOLE bunch of issues to address, but
hey, that's alright. just my two cents worth.

     luv you crazy kids,

Speaking of Jelly,
Did anyone hear about the woman who's suing K and Y Jelly? She thought
it was a contraceptive, spread it on her toast, and ate it. She ended up
getting pregnant, and now she's suing. lol.

This was also a good reason to tell y'all what's in my CD player:

1) Ben Folds Five :WAEA
2) Ben Folds Five - Self-Titled
3) Toad the Wet Sprocket - Dulcinea
4) Jump Little Children - Licorice Tea Demos
5) Squirrel nut Zippers - Hot
6) The Decendents - Milo Goes to College
7) Less Than Jake - Losing Streak

I wonder if K and Y comes in grape...

I'm trying to find a friend who used to subscribe to the Armchair (and
maybe still does). Her name is Deidre, and her email address used to be
SweetyX1@aol.com (which no longer works). She lives (or lived) in the
Dallas area. Her phone number no longer works, either. She found me
once through this list, so now I'm hoping that somebody can help me find
her. Sorry for the off-topic post, but how can we share our love for BF5
with each other if we can't get in touch with each other? :-)

Thanks, -- Michael Bluejay (Austin, TX)

Hey! :) yeah, I considered that, cos I know how they're like that, and
Darren and Robert had been stuffing around during the whole thing,
introducing videos weirdly and basically being pretty funny but totally
straight, you know? So when Ben said this, I went "pardon?" (disbelief),
but he was so sincere. So whatever, I don't really care if it's his
favourite video or not, but it was interesting anyway. (to say the
least!)

Cheers,
Petra

that goes against the stereotype that says all americans are stupid.
thank you for that Brant. and i think Sarah's little bit in particular
said all i wanted to say quite succinctly and diplomatically. but
whoever said he was a f***stick was right too.

Now I'm off to listen to the OAD single, which i finally got today. I
can't remember if I've asked this - has anyone got a tape of their
midday appearance?

Putting aside the debate over the meaing of Brick's verses
for a minute (I'm in the abortion camp, btw), what does everyone
make of the chorus?

How is she a brick? The first thought that comes to my mind
is that she's a heavy weight dragging him down...which I guess
is sort of a brave thing to admit. I guess it could also mean that
she's tough and grounded while he's drowning...

Any opinions?

Yes Petra, I totally agree. When did the Armchair become a forum for
raging everyone's aggressions?

I'm a BF5 fanatic like the rest of you, but chill the fuck out,
everyone. There are more important things in life than comparisons of
band talents and TV shows in other countries.

I wrote Pluvious directly to inform him of his ignorance and I would
just like to suggest that in the future, everyone try to do this. For
the most part, everyone's address is posted and responding to a personal
attack in the Armchair just perpetuates the problem.

However, I would like to compliment Sarah on her response to Pluvious.
Well thought out and very insightful.

Sorry for the lack of band content. I just picked up the Where is
Summer B? single with the two live tracks after a vain search for the
Kate single. Anybody have any insight on where to find this stuff?

Everyone is entitled to my opinion.

It is not realistic to compare two diffrent musicans who play two very
diffrent genres of music. Who is to say (using the billy joel example)
that billy is better than ben? I'm sure they both can play the same
things if you give them the music. After that its all a matter of
personal prefrence, in which lyrics you like(Whether it be billy or ben or
both) and which tunes you enjoy.

It does not make sence to compare two totally diffrent styles of music.
PJ and BFF have not once single thing in common that I could possibly
think of. So why compare them???

Subject: Buggles, Pluvius, etc

Hello, all! It's been some time since I have contributed, but I do have
some more than idle comments:

1. This is not a flame, Skip, but the connection between YES and the
BUggles is through production, namely that of lead Buggle Trevor Horne.
YES, while it has changed lineups incessantly, was very much a band before
the Buggles and had their most creative period in the 70s, before all of
their commercial schtick in the 80s. I do appreciate your trying to keep
us informed, however.

2. To Pluvius: certainly your post directed to our Australian friends was
tounge-in-cheek, a veiled attempt to steer all of those subscribers who
talk about anything other than BF5 to shut their pieholes about irrelevant
junk. Keep it up, Aussies, and tell Luke Tubridy I said hello (if anybody
knows him ;) ). BTW, Ad, your response to Pluvius was just as uncalled for.

3. Whoever mentioned about the Johnny Carson Theme in part of "Steven's
Last Night in Town", you're dead-on. The first time I heard that song, I
recognized it.

4. Anybody up for bootleg trading, let me know, I have a few BF5 things
and tons of DMB.

Thanks for listening!
