PLEASE KEEP YOUR POSTS SHORT
Now that many list members are back with us, the volume of posts will

be especially careful not to quote the whole digest!!

Subject: Please: No selling of bootlegs

Recently someone offered for sale a copy of an unauthorized bootleg CD of
one of the band's performances. It appeared that it was turning into a
bidding war for the CD.

Sale of bootleg recordings such as these take unfair advantage of the
band's generous audience taping policy and endanger the continuation of
being allowed to make recordings for personal use. The Magical Armchair
cannot condone such activity as it is detrimental to the band.

It is OK to post requests for trades of other listmembers' personal
recordings or to offer yours for trade. Please do not offer
audience recordings for sale, whether they are your own or someone
else's. Thank you.

Subject: Fear of Pop, Australia, Tour, Different Whatever

Some amplification and illumination on recently discussed topics--

"Fear of Pop", Caleb Southern's project that Ben worked on last summer,
is yet to be completed. Look for a mid-year release.

Ben did indeed visit Australia earlier this month for some vacation time.
I don't know if he did any radio or press interviews while he was there (if
anyone sees or hears anything, let us know).

No additional shows will be added to the February itinerary, but there
are plans to do another short tour by the summer! (Don't ask me for dates
and cities yet - nothing has been booked)

The most recent pressings of "Whatever and Ever Amen" have some changes.
These changes are permanent and will be on all future pressings, both in
the US and around the world. So hang on to yours - it's now a collector's
item!

I'm sorry if you get a bunch of junk at the end of this, I'm not trying =
to send it and Microsoft Outlook doesn't seem to have any options to =
turn it off.

I suppose it is just destiny that I will never see this band. I missed =
them twice in Kansas City, countless times in Lawrence and now in St. =
Louis.

I spent the last week calling hundreds of times to a number that someone =
had posted as the number to DialTix, always getting a busy signal. =
After a week of calling a kind soul sends me a e-mail with the correct =
number and I get right in. (This is after driving all the way to St. =
Louis from Kansas City last weekend just to search for a place that =
sells tickets.) So I call DialTix and after about five minutes of =
inputting everything they transfer me to some rep who says the show is =
sold out! It may open again, they say, but they're not sure. 'Just =
keep calling back...' Thanx, that helps.

The point of all this bitching? Venting, mostly, but also a shout out =
to the 'chair. Did anyone pick up any extra tickets for Feb. 14 =
American Theatre? Optimally I'm shooting for four but I'd settle for =
one at this point. Any help or guidance in the right direction would be =
appreciated.

Joel

Anyone know the radio station that is having their 'party' at the show? =
I'd like to call them and ask if I could humiliate myself on-air for =
some tickets.

Since other people have asked on the armchair, i thought I'd give it a try. I
want to go to the LA show at the Palace on Feb. 9 and I don't have tickets.
No big surprise, it sold out, so if anyone has extras, or just an extra (yes,
i'm a loser who would go to a concert alone just to see one of my favorite
bands) I would really appreciate it.

thanks,

Hey everyone! You know, I've been a member to this list for a couple of
weeks now, and I've only seen posts from 2 texas BF5 fans!! What's up
with that? I'm stuck going to college in the hick town of Lubbock, texas,
where nobody has heard of BF5...not even brick. But, i've managed to
convert all the girls on my floor (mainly by blasting my CD's every
night). In fact, some of them are coming with me to the Dallas show in
two weeks. I'm so excited, i've never seen them live before. So, if
anybody else is going to be there, let me know! I need to be reassured
that at least some texans have good taste in music...not that country
crap. So, e-mail me personally, or I'll read it on the armchair.
Ya'll are great!

Hello again!

First of all, seeing as I contributed to this "Brick" discussion
I just wanted to say a) I'm sorry to everyone who is complaining
and b) some of us are just starting to hear BF5 and it is an
interesting topic to us (and I guess I say that without really
representing anyone but myself). But apologies nonetheless.

Also - here again to show my totally "new to BF5" colours -
someone mentioned a secret track on WAEA and how the new CDs
do'nt seem to have it. Mine doesn't. Nothing outside of what
is listed. Just curious as to what the secret track was.
(And please - all of you who have read this question 15 million
times - please do'nt yell at me or waste other people's time
reading posts flaming me. Thanks!)

To anyone out there who is asian - Happy New Year!

First off, thanks to Will Canzoneri who did something almost no one ever does:
agree with me (the site's not bad either, Will). Everyone wants to shove BF5
into some piano-laden category ghetto and the answer is pretty clear. Enjoy
the music.

The reason the fans appreciate NBP is not because we feel BF5 deserve a
compilation after only two studio releases, but because we're fairly confident
that we'll enjoy what the band has to offer. The former 'alternative rock' was
full of fans that swore their undying allegiance to one group or another until
the collective mind changed. Suddenly, buzz-bins are has-beens. Bumper
stickers are being torn off as fast as they were slapped on and t-shirts are
now used as handkercheifs. NBP is for the fans who will even listen to badly
recorded live shows with smiles on their faces.
Are we suckers? Sure, but we're loyal suckers... those are the kind that keep
a band going for a decade or two.

Besides, I think a really great tour would be BF5, Brainiac and The Rachel's,
but since no one's heard of Rachel's and Timmy Taylor of Brainiac is dead, we
have to put up with Spice Girls rumors. People, people, people. For floating
such trash, you should all pay the ultimate penalty... you should all be
forced to watch their movie.

Speaking of floating, are there any kind souls who would consider floating a
show tape or two to a guy with nothing to trade except deep gratitude and a
really old box of Good 'N Plentys?

Dinna' think so...

i'd really like to see SFTD be promoted as the follow-up single/video to
"brick"(if for anything than to simply wash the soft-rock taste out of our
mouths). it's been a favorite of mine since seeing them perform it in july of
96 and i had initially hoped it would be a single after "battle." besides,
although they'd have to edit out the "fuck" out of it(but not nessacarily "you
too") to make it suitable for radio and eMpTyV, the word "bitch" is no longer
a taboo in popular music as that inane hit song of last year proved to us, and
it's not like BF5 haven't had to censor their singles before.
