Once again, I write in need of a ride:

Hello--

My friend and I have secured two tickets for the show in NYC on Friday,
2/20--now all we have to do is get down there somehow. Anyone from the
Boston area who is going to the Hammerstein show, drop me an e-mail, and we
can work something out. Or if you're going to the show but also don't know
how you're getting down there, let me know you're out there as well. So,
in short, anyone from Boston going to the NYC show, e-mail me ASAP. Thanks--

well mr. angrydwarf....you really worked hard on that post so i must commend
you!
but what i really wanted to say was to all the newbie "brickheads"(the word
DUHhhhh comes to mind) that there is no hope for you little 16yr olds in
hunting down cool junk...SO GIVE IT UP! =oX oops...did i say that??
oh well anyway....my real post is this:
DONT GIVE UP in all your hunts for new and old material! in two days times
and in only checking in TWO record stores i managed to find the Where's summer
B?, Underground Pt.2, and the australian Brick single all in one weekend!! it
cost me $9.99 each due to the lousy import prices...but i feel no shame! i
also found a somewhat hard to find bent backed tulips 7in of "tie me down"
backed with a cover of the smiths "last of the famous american playboys" or
whatever its called!
do any of you know who The Bent Backed Tulips even are?? all you youngins
need to brush up on yer POWER POP bands iffin ya don't!
also...check your local GOOD record stores starting this month for the new
John Easdale CD "Bright Side" on eggBERT records!! if you like yer power pop
EXTRA ROUGH, yet surprisingly sweet you will DIE when you hear this!! John
has been known to make me laugh, cry, whimper, sneeze, and GUFFAW once even
from his talent in songwriting!

LATER,
JOhn NJ
ps-- is this whole Kate suicide thing a prank or is it real? i'm tired and a
bit confused about it!

i'm going to get flamed for this but really...who cares? i'm ready for it!
sorta...ha ha...joke people.
okay 1st--who CARES how people find out about benfoldsfive??? brick will just
give people a taste of the music and if they don't like it then tough...and
plus it's a bonus if they buy the CD and stuff...gives the guys lots more $$$
so don't be mean to those people...the hype'll die down...
2nd--everyone has a right to express their opinion on songs so don't
start hating them...they might just have a NEW idea and want to share...though
please read the info stuff first...
3rd--if you're going to flame me or anyone, why not send it to
my/their/whoever's PERSONAL email address? it's right there on the email
anyway...what's more annoying than reading 10 sections on how you hated that
someone flames someone/thing/how? i mean REALLY! lots of juvenile email
torching someone just cause they can...
that's it...and whoever took my BF5 cd from my room, i hope you're happy okay!!
sheesh...get your own! oh wait...you have mine...well...gimme mine back and
then get your own!

i was at tower records yesterday and i was thumbing through their free

it's the same pix as on the cover but it's still pretty cool. since the
magazine is FREE, i grabbed like three copies. anyways, go down to tower and
see what's up. brick also is one of their songs on their listening bar
thingy. pretty cool!

see some of you at the la concert. less than a week to go!

>Suzanne

Dear Suzanne,

It is our job to educate the masses who are easily told what to devour by
the mainstream. Ben and the boys are not mainstream but, they are on the
fringe. They will always be on the outside looking in. And for that they
will always be OURS.
Here is an idea, buy someone you trust: WEAEA or BFF. Make them listen to
the other songs like Jacksons, Evaporated or Eddie Walker. Wag their tail
a little just like the America music institution pushes the Spice Sluts or
Matchbox Blowfish down our throats. But please don't drown them with Ben.
If they don't like it, then don't waste your energy. Its probably too
late, they are probably already brainwashed on familiar hooks and MTV looks.

BFF is like a fine red wine, when aged well and aired properly they are
both delicious and easy to swallow. Its hard to believe that WEAEA has
been out for a 11 months and still holds its flavor. It still hold the
reigns on my CD player.

So the next time a friend comes over and says, "I just bought that really
groovy TiTanic soundtrack or that ultra-hip Puff Daddy loop," tell them
about a little threesome from the Carolina's that rock. And after you open
the door for them and they, by some freak accident, are not hooked and say
"They sound like Elton John" then tell them to go buy "Candle in the Wind
97" for the 8th time. They are probably to far gone already.

BFF rules!
later,
B

Hello hello...
For those of you who saw Ben Folds Five in Charlotte on December 5,
you probably saw Marcy Playground open for them. Well, I saw Marcy
Playground again last night at Cat's Cradle in Carrboro, NC, and just
wanted to say that it was an amazing concert! If MP heads to your town,
go see them. Besides, they played Ben Folds Five as the pre-show music - not
bad! But the real surprise of the evening was Lincoln, the opening band.
You know, after Venus Flytrap Girls, my expectations of opening bands has
been significantly lowered, but I was blown away by Lincoln. Their music
is quite catchy but yet original (which is so refreshing), and my bro
chatted with the lead singer afterwards, and he was a very nice,
down-to-earth kind of guy. So two enthusiastic thumbs up for Lincoln and
Marcy Playground. The whole evening would have gotten an A+ except for
the noxious teenyboppers next to me who were so excited to be at the very
front for "Mercy Playground." They also knew all the words to Brick - I
was impressed. (Sorry - my bitterness sometimes gets the best of me.)
Anyway, to echo the sentiments of another Armchairian, I think the Brick
single is a good investment. I love the Kate ska remix, and Mitchell Lane
is beautiful. Smoke, though not one of my personal faves, is very good - but
I got my copy for $9.99, and I'm not sure I'd pay $21.99 for it. I'd look
around for a better price - check CDNow, they may have it.

There's my two cents...
Lee

Hello All,
This weekend I purchased the Australian Brick single to have the
"Ska" version of Kate. To my disapointment, when I but it on.....Its the same
version as the "String version" on the Japanese brick single (that I allready
have). Just a warning to all of you who have the Japanese Brick single. I'm
wondering if the "Disco" version of Fair is the same as the "String version"
on the Japanese single. I bet it is.....anyone know? Also, check out my list
