Does anyone know if BFF cover a Smiths song? A friend of mine swears
they do, but I have yet to find anything. If you know of such a
recording, please email me. =)

Thanks,

i don't know if this has been proposed before, but a way for bff fans to
get in touch with each other is by icq. my icq # is 11230080, so page
me if you want. my idea was that we could compile a list of everybody's
icq #s so people could chat with each other if they wanted. so if you
want, email me your icq # and i'll start up a list. PLEASE DON'T POST
IT TO THE ARMCHAIR! that would be bad and very, very evil. after you
email me your #, i'll get all the numbers i can and then i will mail the
final list to everybody who emailed me about it. or i'll just post it
to the list if frank doesn't mind.

just an idea...if you don't like it, don't flame me please. just kick
your wall or something.

have fun,
jen

Back in 1996 I believe, Ben took time out of his busy schedule to
individually answer a whole bunch of questions that people on this list
came up with. Does anyone know if this is archived somewhere, and where i
could I retrieve it? There were a LOT of questions, I think.

I hate to leave a personal messages on the armchair, BUT, I recently had to
change my email, and lost all my old saved letters. SO, this is directed to
EMILY (I believe) who I sent tapes to under the screenname of Higeary on AOL.
Please email me and let me know if you recieved them....I sent them weeks ago.
Also, I am still waiting on the copy of the all ROBERT interview. I don't
mean to be impatient, but I am moving at the end of the month....so, if you
could email me privately, that would be great.

Thanks!

..keep fallin' on my head...as we all know was done by our boys on the
Bacharach tribute. Anyway, when BF5 toured down here in Oz, they were
supported by a band called "Cordrazine"...WHO, are doing the exact same
song for the Oz "To Hal and Bacharach" tribute CD...
anywhooooooooooo, I just thought it was weird/cool/spooky...whatever

was listening to the top forty earlier, and was incensed to hear judge
bloody jules introduce the ben folds five. ignoramus. but after the record
he called them ben folds five, so i'll just shut up now.

and what's more it was at number thirty-seven. dammit. and half an
hour or so later they played "dr jones" by aqua which has been out for
about two monthes. (not to mention being "dr jones" by aqua)

   AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA how funny is that?

in an ironic sort of way.

Well, I've yet to get tickets for the KENTISH TOWN Forum, in London,
because I don't have a clue as to what options I've got. So, if anyone
wants to tell me what the best tickets to get are, I'd be really
grateful. Anyway, hopefully, the atmosphere will be great cos we'll
have some fans this time.
Oh, and one small thing I forgot to mention, I was watchin Top of the
Pops, and suddenly, out of nowhere, fuck me bit WHO is on? '6am...' -I
just exploded. Who'd have thought it? Top of the Pops. They weren't even
played that much on Radio 1. Nice of Jo Whiley to put in an extra
mention about how good they sounded, but she said that about Ultra
too...
Got a tape of it the next day, so that's an offering for the management
who are collectin local appearances.. that's along with the Big Stuff
interview. Alright?

Anthony

P.s. Whatever and Ever Amen is now at number 29 in the MVC charts....

P.S. i'm not too sure I want to get into the transatlantic fight, but
hey, we gave you Sting (ok, strictly speaking, Andy Summers), but then
you give him back with Puff daddy on top...

P.p.s. sorry, one last thing, what about this compilation of Ben Folds
Five fans who do either a) covers of their songs (but in a different
style), or b) other songs in the style of Ben Folds Five? I wouldn't
mind co-ordinating the effort, just write to me if you're interested...

Had to tell you about this bit of serendipity that put a big-ass smile on my face today. I was out ridin my Specialized crossroad this afternoon (best bike for the money, IMHO) and was wearing my Ben Folds Five T-shirt. It's the one with "Ben Folds Five" in big blue letters in front and "Whatever and Ever Amen" in smaller black letters. The crew neck collar is black and on the back there's this big reddish pictogram. Anyway, I was "blowin' away" by all the smiles, stares, couple of thumbs-up and even one "go Ben". It had to be the T-shirt as the fly on my shorts was still zipped and the beatup ol' cap I had on sure as shit didn't do anything. Fuck, I knew the boys were getting more popular but this just blew me away. Who knows, maybe it was partly the warm sun and cool breeze... I don't know and don't care but it was a rush while it lasted.

That's it.

okay, just thought i'd share, i've been getting over a cold, so i'm very
sensitive to anything that happens around me. anyway, i was shopping in
target, and who do i see on the "great hits" section? ben folds five,
whatever and ever amen, featuring the hit song brick. and i started to
cry and my friends who were there with me where like, what, what? and i
could barely point to the cd's and then they were like, oh. i sure got
a lot of funny looks from the target people. especially when i kept
repeating, "damn them, the over propagation of the media, it's all over"
i might seem a little insane, but it was late, and it wasn't like a
total mental collapse, and maybe i'm exaggerating a bit too.
also, i bought the brick single, though thankfully not at target, and i
love smoke, and i've never heard mitchell lane before so it was an
experience. also, i love the ska remix of kate, but it's not really
ska. oh and here's an interesting factoid: the person who plays cello
on smoke and kate on the single, is the SAME person who plays cello on
fuel's song "shimmer".
go fig, anyway, i've taken up too much space.

OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've heard from Ben's brother on Fear of Pop a FEW TIMES. he
says there AER some weird experimental sounds and there's SOME talk of some
spoekn word. But he also said there's some REALLY cool instrumental stuff. Not
Techno SHIT. Hope this clears things up.
