We are working on setting up a site that will cover every show of the
spring tour. In order to make what we want to do possible, we are asking
everyone that attends a show to please email us the set list, a review of
the show, and any pics from the show. This would be greatly appreciated,
for we cannot do what we would like to do without your help. Please submit
all set lists, reviews, and pictures to bffirc@usa.net with "Spring Tour"

Subject: WEAEA review from Detroit News...

Hola.
I was just flipping through the Detroit News today & I happened upon a
review in the weekly "by teens for teens" section of the paper (I don't
really read it! Really! Stop laughing at me!!) of Whatever & Ever Amen.
I'm sure everyone is pleased to know that it got 4 out of 4 stars.
Reading the review, there were a few things that bothered me:

1) "Ben Folds Five is what you get when you cross Squirrel Nut Zippers
with Third Eye Blind..." Ick. SNZ is okay, but 3B?! Come on! How do you
get this comparison, anyone?
2) Robert is called "Your basic bass player", while Ben gets the term
"awesome rock 'n' roll piano player", & Darren gets "cool drummer". Maybe
she ran out of terms for good...
3) "The band formed in college..." Am I grossly misinformed, or
something? I don't remember anything about this.

It's not like I'm mad about it, it's just that it's kind of annoying when
people don't do thier homework & just make something up they assume is
true. I'm very happy that Ben Folds Five is getting it's deserved
attention... Amen & good evening.

Bottoms up!
Steve!
the nird-rawker

Hey, I think it's about time I post my 5 favorite bands other than Ben
Folds Five right about now. It's not like anyone else hasn't done it &
the good lord only knows when I'll post next, so here it goes:
1) They Might Be Giants
2) Radiohead
3) Lincoln
4) Fountains of Wayne
5) Man... or Astro-Man?

Subject: Posters

Hello Fellow Chairers:
I've been reading a few personal stories here on the armchair about how
rude salesclerks are when we, the customers, ask them for a poster which will
just be thrown out eventually. So I have two stories to tell, but I'll make
them short so as not to take up too much space.
The first comes from the viewpoint of a salesperson in a HUGE music store
called FYE in Trumbull, Connecticut where I no longer live. We used to give
the posters, stand ups, etc. to employees and we were intructed to tell the
customers who requested them that they were sent back to the home office when
we were through with them. This way, we wouldn't get mobs of people coming
into the store asking for free stuff.
The second is from the viewpoint of a girlfriend who went with her
boyfriend to buy NBP at a Blockbuster Music Store in Richardson, Texas. My
boyfriend noticed that the girl behind the counter was taking old posters down
and putting new ones up. One of the new ones was the NBP 1-foot-squared
poster. My boyfriend asked if they give those sorts of things away and the
girl said normally they don't but she didn't think she'd need all of them so
she gave one to us anyways. It's hanging on his wall next to his bed.
So, I guess what I'm trying to say is next time a salesperson denies you a
free poster, realize that they are just doing thier job. And also realize
that sometimes you may get lucky and find a salesperson who isn't a major pain
in the ass like I was.
And yes, if there are any Texans out there, the salespeople in Texas are
WAY nicer than those in Connecticut. People in New England think they are too
high-society to work in a retail store. Or at least that's the impression I
got.

Erica, the Texas Yankee.

Being from San Diego, I was wondering if anyone else from the armchair was
planning on meeting before or after the may 9 show and if anyone could
(privately) provide me with info about how the Hollywood Palladium is set up.
This will be my first BF5 show where they'll be the main act (the last
times were with the Counting Crows and at HORDE).

Thanks, Annamarie

Anyone headed to Cincinnati on the 19th of May or Cleveland on the 1st of
June let me know. Email me and we can hook up. I am a huge BFF fan, for a
couple years now, and since they do not seem to make many stops in the
Kentucky area, these 2 shows will be my first. I have heard so much from my
friends in the Chapel Hill/Greensboro area, I am ovulating. Also, as a side
note...the local "new music" station just finished a mission to get 2000
signatures on a petition to get the "unedited" version of Dumped played on
the radio. The unedited version contains everything except for the "Fuck
you" parts, and sounds like shit. Finally they got enough area Brickheads
to come get free pastries and sign the petition, so the real version is out
on the play list. Email me Ohio Valley Fans...

Hi there!

Have any Aussies seen the new BF5 ad on TV? It has a little boy who
picks up something (maybe W&EA?) and says "Ben Folds Five??" Then he
says something like "Piano?, Bass? Drums? ... what about the other
two?" Or something like that - I only saw it briefly.

Bit of exposure for the boys out here *finally*. Is this ad only on
out here, or is it in the US too?

Catcha!

It was so great. Sunday I just flipped on the radio to 102.1 (it's based in
Canada) and after about 5 minutes Song For The Dumped came on. It was so
amazing, not only was it getting airplay, BUT uncensored airplay. Then,
yesterday morning, on my favorite station 103.3 (in Buffalo) they played Song
For The Dumped too. The best part was how they introduced it: "this is Ben
Folds Five 'Song For The Dumped', one of our favorites" that was just the
coolest thing, I wanted to jump for joy, but managed to contain myself long
enough to enjoy the song. So around here I've been hearing it, and hope this
one gets bigger than Brick.
