TO REMOVE YOURSELF FROM THIS MAILING LIST
   Send an e-mail message to:
          armchair-request@maillist.il.fontys.nl
with the word
          unsubscribe
in the message body. Please DO NOT POST UNSUBSCRIBE REQUESTS TO THE LIST
ITSELF! If you are having trouble, send mail to
          owner-armchair@maillist.il.fontys.nl
and I will try to help you. To change your address, first unsub yourself from
your old address, then subscribe using your new account.

SCHOOL'S OUT FOR {SUMMER | EVER}!!
If the above statement applies to you, be sure to unsubscribe from
the Armchair if you will not have access to your e-mail account over the
summer. Otherwise, your mailbox will fill up and the system administrator
at your school will be one angry dwarf...
Accordingly, very soon I will begin purging the mailing list of any
address that bounces for any reason (e.g., too many hops, mailbox full,
no route to host), not just 'user unknown'. If you find yourself
unsubscribed, this is probably the reason.

THANKS A THOUSAND
With the passage of 1,000 issues of the Armchair I'd like to thank
everyone for their contributions to the success of the list. We have a great
group of fans and the band is very appreciative of your support.

HI,

I was just wondering...did anybody else see that the entire G105 show was
being taped? I was wondering if you can get a copy of that tape. Why did
they tape it anyway?

Somebody enlighten me,

Subject: G105

This was my first time ever seeing bf5, eventhough I've loved them for
almost 2 years. The show was great, they were very awake and very active.
Robert jumped and almost fell right into his double bass sitting offstage,
then he almost jumped into the piano. Ben was dancing around the stage and
playing up to the audience. It was so great (great is such a blah word, I
can't even find a word to describe the experience). I hope I can go see
them again at one of their concerts and not a festival so I can get the full
Ben Folds Five experience. :)
But for now...here's the setlist in order: Dr. Pyser, BOWCCL,
Selfless,
Philosophy, Eddie Walker, Last Polka, Raindrops, SLNT, Fair, Brick,
Emaline, Julianne, OAD, Underground, and SFTD.

IT WAS SUCH AN INCREADIBLE SHOW!!!

Good day y'all
i though the y100 show was excellent!! the modified verson of steven's
last night in town was delighting to the ears, even though i barely saw
the boys from the middle of the lawn. Reading the posts, i was amazed
about how many bff-ers are in the philly area! did anyone else see ben
throw his seat at the piano at the end of sftd? it's a shame that i
didn't see any bff-ers in the immediate area of, cause i would have
joined them in the dancing (i certainly was!). i'm still awed at the
musical quality and energy that they provide at concerts, even though
over 3/4 of the crowd had absolutely no reaction to what in my mind was
the most unique band there. Green Day did have more of a reaction, but
everyone of their songs sounds the same!!

Hey all, looong time no post,

Didn't go to the Big Shindig yesterday, but they played the whole darn
show on the radio, straight from the board, and I recorded it. The
opening number, Dr. Pyser, really rocked, more than the other live copies
I have heard. I also liked how they teased the Brick-heavy audience by
saying "do ya want to hear the hit?," and launching into Raindrops Keep
Falling on My Head. The cheesy DJ at the end of the show sounded
shellshocked by the performance.

Mr. Jake Foglenest(the man who was Jake on Squirt TV) loves BFF
yesterday while doing his show the BUZZ on krock(WXRK NYC) he mentioned KROCKS
dysfunctional family concert. basically dissing every band. until he got to
the end of his list when he said "....and Ben Folds Five an amazing band that
put on one of the best shows i have ever seen last year" im guessing he was
talking bout the Irving Plaza show(which was brilliant)any way when he decided
to play bff after playing fuel(who were also at the shindig)he said and off
the album "FOREVER AND EVER AMEN"i was very angry and this is the 2nd time
something on the krock messed up

i agree fully with lauren. people who follow popular music don't know the
roots of rock. bff is really good in incorporating many things which are
really cool elements. by the way, their is a really cool kansas city local
band called Shiner. go to their site, it is really rad.

hey, since everyone always posts about how much they hate they armchair, and
how much it really sucks, I'd like to say something a little different. The
armchair has been really enjoyable these past couple issues. The posts have
been interesting, and friendly. So thanks guys...you all deserve a cookie.

Hey all,

I've called up Ticketek, and the guy didn't know anything about the
concert.. he checked with the head honchos there, and they didn't know
when tickets were coming on sale, but he said they usually go on sale
about a month before the concert.... so if that's true, we have about 3
weeks until the Sydney tickets go on sale.

Also, do any Sydneysiders want to meet up at the concert? I'll be going
to both, so let me know if you're going....

Multiple Choice,
Is this post about:

a) Anyone going to see the Five in Atlanta MUST show up early. Snuzz
(the man, the band) are fantastic and highly rocking... For those of you
who never got to see Bus Stop, this'll be the same, only different...

b) Regarding the comment on the new Jeff Buckley album (off-topic, I
know), it takes a while to absorb. I still don't like everything, but
Grace took a while to grow on me, too. "Satisfied Mind," "Back In NYC,"
"You & I," and "Landfill" are great, and "Everybody Here Wants You" is
the most soulful and sensual thing I've heard in ages. Give it time.

c) That radio-festival-show with String Cheese Incident, Leftover
Salmon, moe., and a Days Of The New/Creed-esque band sounds like one of
the cruelest forms of torture a person can voluntarily experience. Dead
knock-offs AND Alice In Chains knock-offs sharing the same stage? Be
still my beating heart. Let's hope BF5 reach the point where they can
extend a big ol' middle finger to these kind of shows.

d) Whether "Air" expands or contracts their fan base, it still served
its purpose of completing my way-cool Ben Folds Five CD-R. Thanks, Mr.
Godzilla.

Subject: I'm Back

Miss me? Remember me? It's been several months since I unsub'd, but
I've come back by popular demand.
What's this I hear about the Armchair getting even worse than it was
when I left? Could that be possible? Well, I'll give it a little while
& find out.
If you don't remember me, or are too new to have been on here 6 months
ago, I'll reintroduce myself. I've been a fan of Ben Folds Five since
March of '96 when I saw my 1st Ben Folds Five show @ a bar in KC. Since
then, I've only gotten to see them 2 more times, as I now live in
Seattle, where they come way too infrequently. The shows I have been
to, however, have been successively improving-except for the crowds.
What used to be a tight-knit group of true Helmet Heads (my phrase,
btw!) has become a mass of teeming (or "teen"ing, if you will) Moshers &
Body Surfers who've only ever heard Brick & SftD & who only pay
attention to those 2 songs, thinking, I presume, that paying attention
to Brick will get them laid by their equally annoying little
boy/girlfriend. Gone are the days when a Ben Folds Five show meant a
group of about 200 people, all @ least as intelligent as me & w/the
taste/class to sing along (LOUDLY!!!) & pogo (THE HIGHER THE BETTER) but
to leave the Docs @ home. Used to be a veritable "We've All Gotten
Screwed Over But We're Happy Anyway" Fest, now it's an embarrassment.
I'll not lament it for too long, though, lest I forget the reason
(supposedly) we're all on this list/@ these shows-a pure love of Ben
Folds Five!!!
BTW, if the above description fits any of you-OFFENSE INTENDED!!!
You're why I left this list to begin w/. You thought I was gone, but
I've come back again...
Sorry for ANNEBLING (look it up)!

So *THIS* is the Magical Armchair....huh....abracadabra (what a great
song)

So my FAIR moshers, how's the pit been? I will just never forget the time
Ben spit on the guy who was surfing to SC&C...It was great. I think the
loogie actually went in the kid's mouth. Knowing the kid, he probably got a
glass and has the spit in his bedroom between his M. Manson poster and
Hanson autographed tab book.

Does anybody know what the meaning behind the song "Dick Holster?" I
have been studying the lyrics for weeks on end only to come up empty.
Sucks.

Hey, don't miss the Springer episode coming up w/Robert. He is going to
be on to "surprise" someone about something. I can't believe he actually
agreed to appear on the show. That Jerry. He is quite a guy.

And also, if someguy tries to convice you that you are a teenie bopper, just
cave in and believe it because you probably are.

What's this? Hate mail. Yummy.....
