MAJORDOMO DOESN'T LIKE IT EITHER
I started to think that Majordomo was on strike because of the off

Hello,
I just wanted to let the people on the chair, who I took pictures
for on Sunday... they are in the mail. The pictures are all AWSOME.
On another thought...And I have to say that I am so jealous of my
little sister... she got the only drum stick that way given out after the
concert and one of the set list. Some people have all the luck!

I'm game, and shall cast a vote.

My favorite melody is the piano solo after the second chorus in Eddie
Walker. After `You never had a coat or a tie....You never had a reason
to cry...'

To me, that is the most powerful 10-12 seconds in any of BF5's music.
And as you all know, BF5's music is chock full of powerful
instrumentation, melodies, and lyrical content.

Fave song is tie between: Eddie Walker and Smoke.

If I had to vote for a runner up, I'd go with this segment: The very
beginning of their self-titled disc, to the end.

Perhaps that's too broad, but that album is just that damn good.

Rusty

My vote has to go to the place in Eddie Walker where they build one voice on
top of another-- "and you came fallin' down down doooooooooowwwwwwwwwwn (bass:
doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo) Eddie Walker, etc..."

I love that one!

First off, I would like to give Ginger mad props for giving ME props. I've
never gotten props before in my life, and now I feel my life as a whole is
complete, eh.. maybe not.

Snuzz was wonderful. I would've purchased a CD, but they were sold out, and
Snuzz was standing right there, and I would of felt like wayy too much of a
suck up to actually buy one. Y'know, it would of just been one of those
awkward moments, that you don't want to ever live again. Ok, that's a ramble
for ya'.

For those of y'all who care who I was, I was the girl standing right in front
of Ben, with the orange top. I had the tornado in the bottle that we were all
playing with around me.

The music before the shows was VERY loud.. before Snuzz came on, I swear that
they turned up that music louder than the actual concert was. It was
interesting.

Chuck put on one of our 88 cent stickers. That means he was cool enough to
hang around us if he wanted to. Like we need to judge on if Chuck was cool or
not. Chuck's a nice fellow, and so is his wife. Infact I've never had a bad
experience with anyone at a Ben Folds Five show. It's the honest truth.

But this isn't a Snuzz mailing list, this is a BF5 one.

Ben Folds Five was incredible. The energy was amazing. The guys were amazing.
I love Ben Folds Five. They are gods of the music world.

I think the highlight of my evening was when we were the "working" crew.
Sorry, it really amused me.

We asked Darren about Mitchell Lane. He told us that Ben was tired of singing
it. We suggested that he should sing it, he told us that we should ask Ben. We
called his bluff and did, Ben said he would think of it. Much to Darren's
dismay. All Darren had to say was Oh God, they asked! It was a funny moment of
the evening.

This post was long, and I'm sorry.

No I'm never going to eat grits,

<<Could it really be taking that big of a hit on yer wallet if you're doing
2:1? Sounds like a profit to me.>>

not everythng i do is 2:1. Uaually the 2:1 people want ONE show so the
people i do 10-10, 15-15 trades with i still have to buy tapes for.
Also, sending tapes in the mail takes money for postage, duh. So it works
out. I never ask anyone to send return mail.
In the last 3 months i've spent over $100 on taping, be it postage or
blanks. I just finished up a huge trade and i'm completely out of blanks
(as well as $$)so i guess that means i didn't make a profit, huh?
Another reason i'm stopping taping for a while is because of assholes like
this guy. Sorry for all of you who wanted 2:1 deals with me, guess i was
wrong to say that people who trade BFF are nice.

nice to read something from a fellow Aussie, even if it was the wrong
State, ie Victoria. As for the tour in Australia, BF5 will be in Sydney
at the Enmore on the 27th of July. I went to see them last time they
were here and it was awesome!!!!!!! Unfortunately can't go see this one
- - it's on on a Monday night and the first day back at Uni. Maybe they'll
do another concert. Oh well, just wanted to make my presence felt.

the new Seatle version of the Real World, Tuesday night??? Well, I did. And I
just thought it was so cool that they had BFF as their first music clip. Right
away, you got to hear their familar chords.. And even though it was Brick and
even though it was on a lame ass MTV show thats been going on for too long,
they were still on it.. And thats all.

OK so I already sent my new-kid letter and my review of the Pittsburgh
show so now I'll say my random comments...
--Ben Folds Five plays in Pittsburgh an average of once a year.
The thing that really makes that suck is the fact that the
"alternative" station here, 105.9 WXDX, plays a BF5 song probably
about once a week. The two songs that they own are "Brick" (of
course) and SFTD. That SUcKs!! The Burgh is not really known for its
music (we have an up an coming indie scene) but you would think that
the radio stations would be smart enough to recognize the amazing
talent and superiority of this amazing band! Gosh!
--Yes, i would also love the lyrics to "...Fannie Packs". More
specifically, I want to know -- is it "bass in your face" or "piss in
your face"? I think its "bass" but my brother swears its "piss". Hmm...
--And I'd love the lyrics to air. I can tell what Ben says during
like the first 2 verses but then I can't tell. (I'm not really
accustomed to hearing that unique and adorable accent that he has.)
Thanks.
--And then there's the Conan question. What's with the 16th and
17th of July crap that's on the official web site?
--AND speaking of the Official Ben Folds Five web site -- what the
hell is the deal with that? I had just a small problem with it before
because the info on it was usually old, but then I got mad when it
cost me good seats. The web site NEVER had the Pittsburgh show
listed. I had no idea about it until too late!!! I had to get my
tickets THREE DAYS after they went on sale!! Argh!!
--OK, for the record: BESIDES the three albums and all of the
singles from those albums, besides the Loungeapalooza (i don't know
how to spell that) CD, "The Truth About Cats and Dogs" soundtrack and
the "Godzilla" soundtrack, what other CD's that are sold nationally
have BF5 songs on them? I would LLLove to know.

OK whatever. andeveramen. thanks for listening to the kelly rant. i
love you all.

next concert i'm going to i will throw fannie packs on stage. has
anyone ever seen that done?

thanks again!

Way to go on bringing up the harmony moments for bff.. they are
undoubtedly some of the best work done by the band.. My vote for best
one goes hands down to Missing the War, but I gotta admmit, Aitr comes in
a close second (there's something about that song that reminds me both of
Missing and Mitchell Lane.. anybody else think so?)

A thought about Brick and the subsequent "Brickheads" *something a little
different if you will). At my summer job, I have all day o shuffle
through some CD's while working.. The other day, I decided to go through
the three BFF albumns (along with 4 Dave Matthews and 3 River), and I
realized something. If someone bought Whatever and Ever or S/T based on
being a fan of Brick, they'd probably become real fans of the band.. I
dare say Fair, Missing, Cigarette, Evaporated, and Selfless, Cold, and
Composed would satisfy fans of Brick. I would imagine that nobody can
like only mellow type tunes, and I have a hard time believing that anyone
could find Kate or Battle all that displeasing.. Just a thought.. I'd
like to hear a response to this from anyone who joined onto the list b/c
of Brick and either has or hasn't become a big fan.. enough rambling for
now

Regarding what Ginger Nance had to say:

>And I asked [Darren] about recording the album, if Sony was going
>to ship them to some slick LA studio or if they were going to keep it..I
>dunno, homey, and he said that they have complete control over that and
>were going to keep it...homey (for lack of a better word). Yay!

I asked Ben about recording for the new album when I talked to him after the
show in Cincinnati in May. He told me they wouldn't be recording in his
house anymore. He said they would be moving to a "real" studio to avoid all
the technical difficulties that come with recording at home. So maybe this
means they're going to put Ben in a little room in a studio somewhere while
Robert and Darren stay at home and listen over headphones. Or maybe what
Darren meant was that they'd be in a studio, but still control what goes on
the whole way. Ben did say not to worry, though, it won't be a "noticeable"
change in sound.

 - Leigh

p.s. I saw Pulp at Hammerstein Ballroom tonight--Bran Van 3000 opened and
they were awesome! One thing I noticed though, Pulp has "something" in
their music that just makes the crowd really JUMP, moreso than BFF ever
could, even with The Last Polka. If anyone knows exactly what it is, please
clue me in! (Don't get me wrong, BFF is my favorite band by far, but there
is that "something.") Oh and one more thing, Claire Danes was at the show
too!

If there's any doubts remaining in anyone's mind, yes, the Atlanta show was
incredible. It was my personal first BF5 live experience, and let me say that
those guys know what it takes to make *my* night. By the end, everyone was
so pumped, you could feel the energy in the air. I can see how one might be
inclined to say that the crowd was lame--I think that in the first half of the
concert most people were simply in awe of this amazing threesome--or at
least I was. But by the time they got to Alice and particularly One Angry
Dwarf, everyone was going wild, including the band. I thought that the best
thing about it was how much it seemed that the band was enjoying themselves
up there.

I have a question for those of you that were there and were in line about an
hour before the concert. Did anyone else notice Ben walk by all of us very
nonchalantly with this girl wearing argyle knee socks and Mary Janes?
I would swear that it was him, and I wanted to go up and talk to him, but I
guess I was a little intimidated and I also didn't want to be responsible for
starting a mob of people around him. Anyway, I was just curious as to if I'm
losing it or if it really was him.

One last question--does the band read their mail (e-mail or the old-fashioned
kind)? What kind of response have any of you gotten? I would love to write
them if I thought that they actually be able to have the chance to read it.

Marilyn, who's still in a daze over the coolness of it all
