Subject: before they were rock stars

did anyone see our boys on "before they were rock stars" on vh1? it was
supposed to be on friday at 10 pm, but i watched it, and they weren't on
it... what happened?

the springfield college show on sunday starts at 2 pm, in case you kids
don't know. i was told i shouldn't have a hard time getting in, even
though it's students only.

i don't know if the uri show is sold out, but i have an extra ticket if
anyone is interested, let me know by 10 am, sunday. the show is at 9 pm
sunday. two shows in one day!

pick up the providence phoenix if you can! there's a great pic of the boys
on the cover, and the article is the same one that's been mentioned
already. but i don't think the boston and worcester phoenix's don't have
the boys on the cover. i've got a couple extra copies, if anyone wants one,
email me and we'll work something out.

this new album is so beautiful. i get goosebumps all over when i listen to
it. it's been wonderful watching this band grow...

does anybody else think that the first verse of redneck past sound like the
beach boys, pet sounds to be specific?

jody

i'll put up a cute little quote like everyone else:

"Fans are a funny group of people. They see you wearing a suit and they
say, 'You're wearing a suit! You've sold out!' It's a strange thing. I've
been in musical positions before that I wasn't that proud of. They
probably didn't notice then." -Ben in Phoenix interview

Subject: tubeworm brisbane heaven

hey all

wow today it was like stepping into bff heaven

after watching the anzac parade in brisbane (my grandpop was the front
guy in the catalina squadron) I waited for hmv to open and adored the
3 (!) new tubeworm posters on the ground with yummy (!) pics of the
guys on them. I may just have to steal one somenight as they are only
attached with gaffer tape to the sidewalk. When the store opened I
grabbed the first copy of tubeworm that I saw (right at the front of
the store) and bought it (the free cd is part of it- it's a 2 cd
thing) (FIRST FIRST!! mwha ha ha, anyway)

they were also playing the album over the speakers, they had huge
promotions everywhere, for eg a mannequin dressed as a mountain
climber and the words 'who is reinhold messner?' hung around his
neck.(oh dear) Plus other cute pics of the guys and frankly it was
heaven.

I asked if I could put my name down anywhere for the stuff when it
came down, but they said no. However, I have a sort of friend who
works there and I may just have to bribe him into getting stuff for
me.

Then I went down to rocking horse and they had one of those yuumy
floor posters too, so since they are very cool about people putting
their name down for posters I asked if i could and YAY they had to
make a new list up and my name is the top one! This means I may
possibly score a poster :D Also, the cd is out today not tommorrow as
the floor posters say. Obviously.

I am now going to listen to my copy of the album. dammit I'm glad I
waited. (It makes it so much more special....- now what does that
sound like??!!)

Ah I love this part of the bff thing. love it. love it love it love
itlove it

btw I am now a certfied theatre lighting and theatrical special
effects person. that's rather funky I think.

taves (far far too excited - there is no way I am marking papers
today)

wooo- hooo!!!!

I turned the music up and danced in my chair.

bUt why isnt Darren sing magic? - it's NOT FAIR.

hi fellow chairers
i never post but i just got reinhold yesterday, so
you could say i'm inspired :)
i dont know if it's been mentioned before but i've
noticed that regrets is just like army and i think
that's because it's the same melody played backwards
or something like that. see i read this in an article
in the sydney morning herald a few weeks ago:
ben: "The thing is full of motives which are
backwards; if you play the bridge backwards there's
the melody of the chorus, stuff like that."
so what do you think? the article addresses the idea
of TUBORM being a "concept album.
sorry if this has been mentioned before but hell i'm
not the first one to do it.

Subject: yeh it's me again

I'm listening as i type:

I'm praying that 'dont change your plans'doesnt do a brick. I love it
too much. It's the selfless, cold and composed of tubeworm.

your redneck past is rockin me to my boots as I type, fun song (I bet
they'll like that one on JJJ!!) (and prolly other radios)

The picture at hmv and rocking horse is the one in the album, btw.

'your most valuable possession ' is bizarre. bizarrrrrrre. I'm going
to assume that that is Dean Folds. Having listened to 'your redneck
past' adn 'regrets' I get a stronger feeling that Ben is lying to us
(and possibly kidding himself) about Underground and OAD not being
about himself. He's just too familiar with the whole subject of
uncoolness.

far too intimate with it, I say.

regrets doesnt do heaps for me at present, but I may come to love it
even more the way I did less easily loved songs on WAEA (remember that
album)

'jane' : awwwww shit I feel like this song was written for me.(which
is really sad, but hey I know I'm pathetic) This says all the things i
keep trying to tell myself, I may cry. Yep that's a tear. Excuse me.

....

Shit.

.....

Lullaby. Well I loved this the second i heard it in the store CD
previewer and then pulled the head phones off because it ws too
beautiful and i didnt want to fall in love with the album, when i
couldn't have it immediately. It's soo beautiful. Fortunately I always
liked Elton John when he actually played fast songs. make that loved.
this is so pwetty. Hey wow some actual funky piano playing, hasnt been
enuf of that

'uncle richard, me and james earl jones'

my main (only?) gripe with the album at this point is that we dont
hear hardly anything of darren and robert (in that order, sorry but I
will have my favourites) we need more D and R! actually my other gripe
is yes it is more mellow. I guess the compensation is the depth. but i
think I need more piano slamming.

that said. I love the album. and i apologise for these long and no
doubty dull emails. but i have to share or my flatmates will kill me.
alot . with big cleaning instruments. ouch.

hey there wasnt any talk between the songs either. what is this?? are
they trying to be like other bands or soemthing? (as in : dull)

bye

taves

'jane be jane
and if sometimes that might
drive them away
let them stay there
you dont need them anyway'

hey an orchestrated theme for dr pyser, cool.

the "warhol" style is a white with a bunch of the Messner guys in different
pastel colors accross the front...it also has the bands name above them

the black one is black (duh) and on the front has a black and white pic of
the guys in the coffee shop all swanked out and stuff....ben folds five is
written accross the back

they were selling both of them at the shows

ummmm....

i called all my local record stores today to find out who was going to carry
the vid set and how much...the one store is trying to tell me that it's only
going to be 17.99, but i somehow don't believe that since it is usually the
most overpriced place in town to buy the cds....hmmmm

my whatever baby t fits me.....i'm a size 8ish as well.....hmmm...the only
thing i am mad about is that i wore it to the photo lab the other day and got
some small fixer stains on it :( yuck

anyway.....

ont he official website...make sure you check out and play PONG!!! it's
awesome!!

Subject: Help needed

Heylo to all,

Sorry for a kinda non bentent post, but I need to assistance of as
many of you guys as possible.

For year 12 English, I have decided to write an essay about moshing
as a contemporary culture in today's society. However, the focus is
supposed to be informative so, I need as many people as possible to
reply to the following questions:

1. How old were you when you first moshed?

2. What band were you seeing in your first moshing experience?

3. What's the weirdest thing you've ever seen in a mosh pit?

4. If you didn't know what a mosh pit was, what would you think it
was?

this essay will count towards my ENTER at the end of the year, which
determines whether I get into my university course, so I'm begging
you all to please reply.

Oh, on a bentent note, TUBORM is the feature album on Triple J this
week - I'm gettin' my copy tomorrow!

Nat
